SUMMER PROGRAMS

Tennis & Leadership Program (Ages 8-18)/National Junior Tennis & Learning Program

The Todd Martin Development Fund, as a chapter of the USTA's National Junior Tennis and Learning program, offers a summer tennis development program open to youth, ages 8-18.  Participants will learn the basic skills of tennis starting with the Quick Start tennis method for the younger players.  Participants will progress to larger courts and equipment with increased skill level.  Participants are grouped according to skill and age.  All equipment will be provided including tennis racquets for those who do not have one.

The program also focuses on leadership, team building, and problem solving skills.  Field trips and leadership activities for the younger session and leadership speakers for the older session will reinforce these skills and will include trips that may include the The Kalamazoo Air Zoo, Detroit Science Center, Binder Park Zoo, The Global Village, and the Lansing Lugnuts at Oldsmobile Park.  A trip to the Boys 16s and 18s National Tennis Tournament in Kalamazoo will be an additional highlight at the end of the summer.  An end of summer awards picnic along with a t-shirt for each participant round out the activities.  This program is provided and staffed by the Todd Martin Development Fund.

4 week sessions.
